All my classes are taught using the Anusara Universal
Principles of Alignment. The first principle is Open to Grace. As we move through our asana
practice we will be reminded of how our actions and intentions reflect in they way we live
our lives. We will be encouraged to find a softness in our hearts and minds as we support
our poses with firm muscles to extend radiantly outward.
- Level 1 - In this beginning level class, the Principles of Anusara
alignment are taught using standing poses, modified sun salutations, some basic seated
poses and mild backbends. Students are taught how balanced alignment is therapeutic for
their bodies so they can incorporate it into their daily lives. Best class for students
new to yoga and those who prefer a gentle practice.
- Level 1/2 - This class is an extension of beginning yoga. The basic
principles of alignment are reviewed and attention is brought to the Anusara loops. Slightly
more advanced poses are introduced. Also a good introductory Anusara Yoga class for someone
who has previous yoga experience or who is new to yoga but fairly fit and has good body
awareness.
- Level 2 - This class takes Anusara students deeper into the practice
by using the principles to advance to the level II syllabus. The alignment principles will
be investigated in a more refined way. Previous Anusara Yoga experience is necessary.
Not recommended for students with serious physical injuries or limitations.
- Mixed Level Yoga - In this class students with multiple levels of
experience and ability practice together. In more challenging poses I offer stages and
modifications so that each student can strive for the practice that is best for them.
- Practice class- In this upbeat class, I practice with the students, creating a deeper sense of community and playfulness.
This practice is a chance to get more visual experience and examine ways to approach taking your own practice to a deeper level.
